Price corrections & appeals
Last updated: 1 July 2026
VetHound publishes veterinary fees to help pet owners compare costs before they contact a practice. Accuracy matters to us — and to the practices we list. This page explains how we source prices, how to report an error, and how practices can appeal or update a listing.
1. Guide prices — not quotes
Every fee on VetHound is shown for guidance only. It is not an offer, quote, or guarantee of what you or your pet will be charged. Clinical findings, pet size, medication choices, anaesthetic time, and extras on the day can all change the final bill.
Please always confirm prices and what is included with the practice before agreeing to treatment. See also our Terms of Use.
2. Where our prices come from
We compile listing information from sources such as:
- fees published on a practice's own website or price list;
- information submitted by a practice through our claim and dashboard tools;
- manual research where public fees are available.
Where possible, practice pages show a link to the source and a “last checked” date. Practices change fees from time to time — a published price may be out of date even when we have recently checked it.
3. Report a price error (pet owners & practices)
If a price on VetHound looks wrong, outdated, or missing context (for example a weight-band fee shown as a single amount), tell us:
- Email a correction request — include the practice name, the VetHound listing URL if you have it, what is wrong, and a link to the practice's current fees page or other source if possible.
- On any practice page, use Email us a correction in the pricing section — this pre-fills the practice name and listing link.
- On search results, use Report an error on an individual price card.
Send corrections to partners@vethound.co.uk.
4. What we need from you
To resolve a report quickly, please include as much as you can:
- practice name and town;
- link to the VetHound listing;
- treatment name and the price shown on VetHound;
- the correct price (or explanation if fees vary by weight or case);
- a link to the practice's published fee list or a dated invoice/quote (for practices).
We may contact you or the practice for clarification before changing a listing.
5. What happens next
- We review your report against our sources.
- If the correction is verified, we update the listing — usually within five working days, often sooner.
- If we cannot verify the change, we may leave the existing figure, add a note that fees vary, or remove a specific price until we can confirm it.
- We do not always reply individually, but we read every report.
Urgent clinical matters are outside our scope — please contact the practice or an emergency vet directly.
6. Appeals & listing disputes (practices)
If you represent a practice and disagree with non-price information (ownership label, services, contact details, or whether you should be listed), email us with:
- your name and role;
- the listing URL;
- what you believe is incorrect and supporting evidence.
If the listing is already on VetHound, open that practice's page and use Email us a correction in the pricing section — it will pre-fill the practice name and link. Otherwise, email us about a listing appeal.
7. Claim or manage your listing
Practices can claim their VetHound listing to submit and maintain their own published fees:
- Find your practice and use the claim option on the listing page.
- Email us to claim a listing.
- Not listed yet? Request to be added (partners@vethound.co.uk).
Claimed listings are still subject to our accuracy standards and these correction procedures.
8. Limits
VetHound is an independent comparison site. We are not a regulator, trade body, or dispute resolution service for clinical care or billing disputes between you and a practice. If you cannot resolve a fee disagreement with a practice, you may wish to contact Citizens Advice or seek legal advice.
